Officials from the San Mateo County Superior Court say that a new court executive officer has been chosen.
Friday, court officials announced that Chad Peace, who is currently head of Justice Court services for Harris County in Texas, will take over as San Mateo’s next court executive officer. Taniguchi has been in charge of the court for six years.
Since 2022, Peace has been in charge of Justice Court services in Harris County. According to court officials, he creates and oversees operating budgets and performance standards for the justice courts.
As of 2019, Peace was the director of court administration for Montgomery County, Texas. In 2018, he was the director of court growth for the Kansas Supreme Court.
Chief Judge-Elect Stephanie Garratt said, “We welcome Chad Peace as our next court executive officer.” “Chad is the only person who can help us get through the tough times ahead because he is a judge, a lawyer, and an administrator.”
Court executive officers run the day-to-day business of a court. They are in charge of handling staff, enforcing rules, and keeping an eye on activities that aren’t related to the courts’ business. In February 2025, Peace will become the new chief judge of the San Mateo County Superior Court.
