I have written many pieces over the years about how rent prices in Florida have gone up a lot. People have said that the rising cost of living in Florida leaves people with little money at the end of the month or that seniors are being priced out of the state.
Readers in this situation may be relieved to learn that rents have gone down in Jacksonville and Tampa, Florida, according to a recent report by the real estate website Redfin.
In fact, these cities are among the top ones in the country where rents have gone down. There were also drops in Orlando and Miami.
A new study from Redfin looks at Florida’s falling rent markets. A report on the real estate website Redfin was last changed at the beginning of October 2024. Florida is not following the national trend of rents going up, the study found.
To be more specific, the study found that rent dropped by 12% in Jacksonville from June of last year. The rent went down by 6% in Tampa, 4.8% in Orlando, and 3.8% in Miami.
Jacksonville’s drop was the second biggest in the country, just behind Austin, Texas. Miami came in tenth, Tampa came in fifth, and Orlando came in sixth.
Median Rents in the Florida Cities in Question: Rents are going down in some Florida areas, but I think some Floridians still think that rent is pretty high in Florida. Zillow says the following are the median rents for the towns in question.
