At least two counties in the Bay Area are giving out sandbags to people who are worried that this week’s atmospheric river could cause floods.
Today, as heavy rain starts to fall in Solano County, the city of Fairfield has sandbags stocked.
There are four places in the city where people and business owners can get sandbags.
Sand will be self-service, and you can only bring 10 bags at a time. It’s better to only fill sandbags half way because they are easier to handle and pack down.
Officials from the city said that bags that are too full are unstable when packed, leaving holes that let water flow through.
The Napa County Sheriff’s Office said that places to get sandbags are stocked and ready for the bad weather that is coming to the Bay Area.
The county is under a flood watch because it will rain a lot and have strong winds all through Saturday.
Based on what officers say, people should try to stay off the roads.
