The 2024 Extension for All Award was won by Nature Coast Masters Gardeners

It was last week at the Florida Master Gardener Volunteer Advanced Training Conference that the UF/IFAS Levy County Extension Master Gardeners were given the 2024 Extension for All Award.

This award was given to them for their project on problems in Florida’s sugar sand soils, which focused on ways to make them better at holding water, managing nutrients, and growing in the warmer months.

Together with the Children’s Table food pantry, the Levy extension taught people in the area how to grow in a way that is good for the environment and gave them free seeds, plants, and advice. Barbara L. Edmonds gave people hands-on activities and grew hundreds of pounds of vegetables that helped the food pantry and the neighborhood.
