Three individuals were arrested by cops in San Mateo on suspicion of vehicle theft and burglary.

Police say that three people were taken in San Mateo on Tuesday on suspicion of burglary and other crimes.

Around 1:15 a.m., police were called to the 400 block of North Bayshore Boulevard to say that someone had broken into a car. Police say that thieves broke the window of a utility work truck and were trying to take tools from inside.

The suspects got into a white Dodge Charger with paper plates while cops were on their way and drove north on Bayshore Boulevard before they could arrive.

Camera footage of the suspects and the car they were driving was found by investigators. About 30 minutes later, police found it near the corner of South Norfolk Street and Hillsdale Boulevard.

Police say that when the suspects in the car saw them, they ran away right away. They got on northbound U.S. Highway 101 and then switched to eastbound state Highway 92 before being stopped by police. It stopped on Highway 92 near the Edgewater exit.

It was a white Dodge Charger. Two guys and a young person who were inside the car were arrested as suspects.

Police say the Dodge Charger was reported stolen from Fremont before. The suspects were driving a stolen car, and police say they found tools, tool bags, and toolboxes in the back seat that they thought were stolen.

Javier Macias, 24, from Hayward, was driving the car, and Ernesto Torres, 25, from Oakland, and a juvenile were both in it.

All three were arrested on suspicion of auto burglary, conspiracy to commit a crime, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Macias and Torres were picked up and taken to the San Mateo County Jail.

Police are looking for the owners of all the tools, tool bags, and toolboxes they think have been stolen. If someone had tools stolen from their car on Monday night or early Tuesday morning, they should call San Mateo Police.
