It was the FFA group at Dixie County High School that won the National Model of Excellence Award.
The award goes to middle school and high school groups that help build communities, make leaders, and make agriculture stronger.
They say this means that Dixie County has the best activities schedule of any FFA group in the country.
This is the first time that Dixie’s FFA chapter has won the National Model of Excellence Award. The chapter has been around since 1951.
Abby Whitehead, Chapter Vice President, said that the win has an effect on the whole community. “A lot of the people who join Dixie FFA have family members who have been in the group.”
This is a gift. This was our first national win after getting our charter in 1951. It’s just fun to be excited for ourselves and for our town. When we got back home, everyone in town treated us like heroes.
